Family Volunteering Adventure

Key Information

Like all our social projects, the wildlife volunteering project operates in beautiful part of the Western Cape. South Africa has a conservation culture and this is at the core of this Wildlife Sanctuary about 5 hours outside of Cape Town. By volunteering at the sanctuary you will be involved in not only the care of predators that has suffered exploitation but also contribute to smaller community projects adopted by the sanctuary.

1) Conscious travellers worldwide are increasingly aware not only of conservation but also of the culture and customs of the people around the reserve. We support this approach wholeheartedly. This conservation model creates opportunities for the adjacent communities, their businesses and cultural initiatives.

2) Your weekly fee covers comfortable accommodation, transfers from and to the airport, excursions and all meals on the farm. Overall, you can expect to be comfortable, and well looked after on the farm by our experienced staff. Your fees also include up to 5% donation towards conservation.

About the project

Unlike any of our other projects, this one is fully catered for the adventurous family who wants to have fun! This unique project will not only teach you about conservation, but encourage outdoor living and connecting with the locals. The 1650 hectare property is located down the Garden Route on a farm. The wildlife sanctuary has provided a safe haven for predators that have been exploited and held captive. The property is the ideal place where the 16 + lions can roam freely in an environment filled with fynbos and trees. Here the animals are free from poaching and exploitation and the facility provides the staff, training and care for the predators.

Your Impact

You will play an important part in supporting the work of the centre and given wonderful opportunities to learn about the species and their behaviours. As a family, you will contributed to the care and well-being of the animals.

Contributes to United Nations’ Sustainable Goal #15: Life on Land

The wildlife sanctuary plays an important role in the protection and restoration of exploited predators and the promotion of sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems.
